Donald Trump has issued a flurry of executive orders and directives as he seeks to put his stamp on his new administration on issues ranging from immigration, gender and energy, to Jan. 6 pardons.
The President signed some orders from the US Capitol, where his swearing-in ceremony took place, and more later at the White House.
Executive orders allow presidents to enact some policies without the consent of Congress and can take effect immediately. Some could later be challenged in court.
President Donald Trump and Melania Trump hit three inaugural balls in one night to mark the beginning of a new MAGA era.
The president and first lady started at the military-themed Commander in Chief ball, before heading to the nearby Liberty Ball where they danced onstage with the entire Trump family, before motorcading to Union Station for the Starlight Ball.
‘We needed three because we have such support,’ Trump told the crowd at the Liberty Ball at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center Monday night.
Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States on Monday, a couple of months after he became just the second person in history to win a nonconsecutive term in the White House.
Trump defeated Kamala Harris in November’s election, completing a historic political comeback four years after he lost to Joe Biden. Trump served as president from 2017-2021.
The inauguration ceremony took place inside the US Capitol Rotunda due to dangerously cold temperatures projected in the nation’s capital.
First Lady Melania Trump returned to Washington, D.C., for her husband Donald Trump’s second inauguration after a muted role on the campaign trail.
Melania Trump has consistently used fashion to make a statement. From her choice of European luxury labels like Dolce & Gabbana and Dior to her embrace of classic American designers such as Ralph Lauren, her wardrobe has sparked conversations about the intersection of fashion and politics.
Melania’s fashion became politicized in 2017 when some designers refused to dress her, and her supporters have been critical of Vogue not featuring her on the cover, unlike other first ladies.
Trump delivered his second inaugural address on Monday inside the Capitol Rotunda.

Thank you very, very much. Vice President Vance, Speaker Johnson, Senator Thune, Chief Justice Roberts, Justices of the United States Supreme Court. President Clinton, President Bush, President Obama, President Biden, Vice President Harris and my fellow Citizens, the golden age of America begins right now.
The U.S. Senate voted Monday to pass the Laken Riley Act, just hours after President Donald Trump was sworn in.
The bill would require federal immigration authorities to detain illegal migrants who commit theft-related crimes in the U.S. The legislation would also allow states to sue the Department of Homeland Security for harm caused to their residents because of illegal immigration.
The bill passed in a 64-35 vote. Only 12 Democrats voted in favor of the bill.
Elon Musk has gone viral over a hand gesture he made at Donald Trump’s inauguration which Democrat critics have likened to a fascist salute.
During his remarks at the Capital One Arena, the world’s richest man told the crowd “I just want to say thank you for making it happen” before beating his hand against his chest and performing a one-armed salute. He then continued: “Thank you, my heart goes out to you.”
The moment was quickly picked up on social media, with some accusing the Tesla CEO of performing a racist gesture used in Nazi Germany.
The office of a congressman in Wisconsin was targeted in an arson attack sparked by a 19-year-old man upset over the “recent talks of a TikTok ban,” according to police.
Rep. Glenn Grothman, a Republican, had voted in April 2024 in favor of the bill that mandated TikTok’s China-based parent company, ByteDance, cease U.S. operations by Sunday, Jan. 19, with the move being upheld by a Supreme Court ruling last week.
The Fond du Lac Police Department reported in a press release Sunday that Grothman’s office, which is located in a strip mall in Fond du Lac, was targeted overnight by a man who police have not publicly named yet. The individual was allegedly livid over the prospect of a TikTok ban, which went into effect Sunday — temporarily, it turned out — before being lifted by the social media giant just 14 hours later.
