🔵 China Issues Warning

Good evening. It’s Sunday, April 20.

Beijing has warned it will retaliate against countries that negotiate trade deals with the US “at the expense of China’s interests”, fuelling global tensions as the world’s two economic superpowers face off over tariffs.

The statement by the commerce ministry, which was responding to reports that US President Donald Trump’s administration planned to use trade talks with multiple countries to try to isolate China, called on them to instead join Beijing to “resist unilateral bullying”.

“China firmly opposes any party reaching a deal at the expense of China’s interests,” the ministry said on Monday. “If this happens, China will never accept it and will resolutely take countermeasures in a reciprocal manner.”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth sent details of the March attack on the Houthis in Yemen in a second group chat that included his wife, brother and personal lawyer — the latest scandal out of the Pentagon in a chaotic few weeks, according to a report.

Hegseth reportedly shared the sensitive details about the strikes to his spouse before the US carried out the March 15 attack, the New York Times reported Sunday, citing four sources with knowledge of the chat.

The information he shared was nearly identical to what was sent in another chat that mistakenly included a lefty journalist, according to the sources.

A Democrat judge in New Mexico resigned from his bench last month after immigration agents arrested an alleged Tren de Aragua gang member living in his home. The illegal alien entered the U.S. in Eagle Pass, Texas, before being released on an immigration parole due to overcrowding. He eventually moved to New Mexico.

Federal prosecutors in the District of New Mexico allege that 23-year-old Cristhian Ortega-Lopez was illegally in possession of a firearm and has ties to the hyperviolent Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua. Earlier this year, President Donald Trump and the U.S. State Department declared the gang to be a foreign terrorist organization.

Police arrested Orgega-Lopez while executing a search warrant on February 28 at the home of Dona Ana County, New Mexico, Magistrate Judge Joel Cano and his wife, Nancy, the Albuquerque Journal reported this week. The report follows a detention hearing where prosecutors claim the illegal alien is a flight risk and an alleged Tren de Aragua gang member.

Boston Democratic Mayor Michelle Wu’s 2021 campaign received hundreds of thousands of dollars from a fundraiser who is listed by a Chinese intelligence agency as an official, a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation discovered.

Gary Yu, the founder of Boston International Media Consulting, helped raise over $300,000 for Wu with the help of a Chinese civic association he leads. However, Yu — whose Chinese name is Yu Guoliang — is listed as an official by an agency of a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) influence and intelligence service called the United Front Work Department (UFWD), and also operates as a recruiter for the Chinese government, according to reports from the CCP, Chinese state media and civic associations led by Yu.

“The Communist Party’s UFWD never rests,” author and China expert Gordon Chang told the DCNF. “There is no ethnic Chinese official in America who is not targeted. It’s time for law enforcement to investigate the CCP’s ties to Gary Yu and Yu’s ties to Mayor Michelle Wu.”

Bill Maher has doubled down on his newfound fondness of President Donald Trump after meeting him for dinner at the White House, despite sparking outrage from liberals.

Maher, 69, a longtime Trump critic and political commentator, invited Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk on his Random Club Podcast.

During the episode, which aired on Sunday, Maher unapologetically addressed his trip to the White House that shifted his views on the Republican president he previously bashed.

Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., recorded a confrontation with a voter over when the conservative lawmaker was going to hold her next town hall, with the exchange ending in several expletives and insults from both sides.

“Some unhinged lunatic, wearing daisy dukes, at a makeup store, got in my face today. Dems are nuts. So I went off – and I won’t be backing down,” Mace said in a post on X Saturday along with a video of the confrontation.

The video, which is just under two minutes, appears to start shortly after the exchange between Mace and the voter started, with Mace explaining that she does town halls “every year” while accusing the voter of “harassing” her.

The UAE Cabinet has approved the creation of a new Regulatory Intelligence Office within the Cabinet and a new AI-powered integrated regulatory intelligence ecosystem to create a more agile legal system. Designed to monitor the impact of laws on the economy and society in real time, the AI ecosystem will recommend updates and reforms based on data analysis.

AI will help accelerate the legislative process by up to 70 percent, reducing the time and effort required for research, drafting, evaluation, and enactment of laws. The ecosystem will build a unified legislative map linking all federal and local laws with judicial rulings, executive procedures and public services. The initiative will connect to global research centres to align UAE laws with international best practices.

“This new legislative system, powered by artificial intelligence, will change how we create laws, making the process faster and more precise,” wrote His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on social media platform X. There are already a number of branches of the UAE judicial system that are introducing new AI systems and applications. However, this new move connects lawmakers directly with data and insights on the impact and effectiveness of laws.
