🔵 Conservative Legend Dies
Good evening. It’s Tuesday, April 29.

Author and conservative activist David Horowitz, most famous for his book Radical Son and his speeches on college campuses, died on Tuesday at the age of 86.
The official David Horowitz account on X announced his passing on Tuesday while sharing a video compilation of his life’s work.
“On behalf of the David Horowitz Freedom Center, we are very saddened to announce the passing of the Center’s founder, David Horowitz. After a lengthy battle with cancer, David passed [today] at the age of 86,” said the announcement.

Lawyers for President Trump and Paramount, the parent of CBS News, are set to begin mediation on Wednesday over a lawsuit brought by Mr. Trump that accuses “60 Minutes” of deceptively editing an interview with his 2024 Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris.
Legal experts have called the suit baseless and an easy victory for CBS. But Paramount is entering the talks prepared to make a deal.
In an April 18 meeting, the Paramount board outlined acceptable financial terms for a potential settlement with the president, according to three people with knowledge of the internal discussions. The exact dollar amounts remain unclear, but the board’s move clears a path for an out-of-court resolution.

Matt Petgrave, the man who slashed the throat of ice hockey player Adam Johnson in October 2023, will not face any charges, UK prosecutors announced on Tuesday.
Petgrave was arrested in November 2023 on suspicion of manslaughter and was immediately released on bail.
Former NHL player Adam Johnson, 29, died from a massive injury to his neck during a game in 2023.

Amazon says it’s not planning to display added tariff costs next to product prices on its site — despite a report that sparked speculation the e-commerce giant would soon show the new import charges, and the White House’s fiery comments denouncing the purported change.
The Trump administration’s reaction appeared to be based on a misinterpretation of internal plans being considered by Amazon, rather than a final decision made by the company.
And even those talks were limited. Only Amazon’s Haul service — its recently launched, low-cost storefront — “considered the idea” of listing import charges on certain products, company spokesperson Tim Doyle said in a statement sent to The Associated Press. But this “was never approved and is not going to happen.”

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on Tuesday teased that the Trump administration has reached its first trade deal, but said it was not fully finalized and declined to name the country involved.
“I have a deal done, done, done, done, but I need to wait for their prime minister and their parliament to give its approval, which I expect shortly,” Lutnick told CNBC’s Brian Sullivan.
The stock market rose to its highs of the session following the comments, as Wall Street is watching closely for signs of progress in trade negotiations.

Americans’ confidence in the economy slumped for the fifth straight month to the lowest level since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic as anxiety over the impact of tariffs takes a heavy toll.
The Conference Board said Tuesday that its consumer confidence index fell 7.9 points in April to 86, its lowest reading since May 2020. Nearly one-third of consumers expect hiring to slow in the coming months, nearly matching the level reached in April 2009, when the economy was mired in the Great Recession.
The figures reflect a rapidly souring mood among Americans, most of whom expect prices to rise because of the widespread tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump. About half of Americans are also worried about the potential for a recession, according to a survey by The Associated Press-NORC Center.

An alleged leader of the violent Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang was reportedly recently arrested in Los Angeles County.
The Venezuelan who is in the United States illegally was identified as Yonaiker Gallegos, Fox News reported Tuesday, noting he was accused of using the name “Yoniaker(sic) Rafel Martinez-Ramos” and is now in custody on immigration charges.
Local authorities had already nabbed the man in regard to alleged blank checks and a deceptive government identification.
