Crime in Washington, D.C. has fallen significantly since President Trump announced federal control over the cityâs law enforcement operations, according to data released by the D.C. Police Union.
Crime Statistics Before vs. After Federal Control
Comparing the seven days prior to the announcement with the period since, major reductions were reported across multiple categories.
The union noted that while federal resources have boosted enforcement, long-term success requires repealing the cityâs Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Act, which they argue undermines officersâ ability to fight crime effectively.

Former Attorney General Bill Barr answered questions about Jeffrey Epstein in a Monday deposition with the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee that kicked off the panelâs probe into matters relating to the convicted sex offender â an interview that fueled Republican defenses of President Trump while leaving the panelâs Democrats hoping to call additional witnesses.
Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), the panelâs chair who was present for the first hours of the deposition, told reporters that Barr testified that he did not know of any information that would implicate Trump.
âWhat Attorney General Barr testified in there was that he never had conversations with President Trump pertaining to a client list,â Comer said. âHe didnât know anything about a client list. He said that he had never seen anything that would implicate President Trump in any of this, and that he believed if there had been anything pertaining to President Trump with respect to the Epstein list, that he felt like the Biden administration would have probably leaked it out.â
