đ” âDeep-State Criminalsâ Identified
Good morning. Itâs Wednesday, April 23.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard referred two intelligence community professionals to the Department of Justice for criminal prosecution Wednesday over alleged leaks of classified information, Fox News Digital has reported.
An ODNI official told Fox News Digital that the intelligence community professionals allegedly leaked classified information to the Washington Post and the New York Times. A third criminal referral is âon its wayâ to the DOJ.
The official told Fox News Digital that intelligence community professionals should take the move âas a warning.â

Donald Trump will let Vladimir Putin keep almost all the territory he has seized from Ukraine under the terms of a proposed peace deal.
The condition is part of a seven-point plan to end the war that leaves Ukraine with no clear US security guarantee.
It was due to be discussed in London on Wednesday, when US officials would hear Kyivâs reaction, though the talks were downgraded when US secretary of state Marco Rubio pulled out.

Democratic U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin will not seek a sixth term next year, confirming to WBEZ in an Illinois exclusive that he will leave office in 2027 in a long-awaited move certain to set off a massive, intraparty succession fight.
âIâve decided not to run for reelection. So a year and a half from now, Iâll be wrapping up. I plan on working full-time until that moment, but Iâm not going to be waging a campaign for reelection,â Durbin said during an interview in downtown Chicago.
A major reason for his decision boiled down to one thing: his age. By the time a sixth term would end, Durbin would be 88.

Many Republican lawmakers lie low when they have differences with President Trump. Sen. Rand Paul has taken the opposite approach.
âCongress needs to grow a spine, and Congress needs to stand up for its prerogatives,â the Kentucky Republican told reporters, complaining that Trump relied on a national-emergency law to impose tariffs that Paul believes should be controlled by lawmakers. His comments came just days after he was one of only two GOP senators to vote against the partyâs budget framework that is key to Trumpâs tax cuts, saying it didnât do enough to reduce the deficit.
The libertarian known for sometimes quixotic battles at the fringes of Capitol Hill is now at the center of the biggest fights in Washington. Paulâs moves have irritated the president, whom Paul never endorsed in the 2024 election, and now major parts of Trumpâs agenda could hinge on whether the senator sticks to his guns or folds.

In the hours after Pope Francisâs death on Easter Monday a surprising name began to circulate as a potential successor, sparking fevered speculation in conservative social media circles.
Cardinal Robert Sarah of Guinea is exactly the kind of âanti-woke Popeâ that many conservative and traditionalist Catholics yearn for after more than a decade in which the progressive element of the Roman Church has been in the ascendant.
He has firmly adopted the conservative line on everything from same-sex marriage and gender ideology to the dangers of Western secularism, Islamic fundamentalism and the threat uncontrolled migration poses to European culture and values.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Wednesday that US President Donald Trump is determined to prevent Iran from attaining a nuclear weapon, and would prefer to do that by negotiations as opposed to military means. However, he said the US would be willing to see Tehran have a civilian nuclear program as long as they were not enriching uranium.
âWe do not want a war,â Rubio told Bari Weiss on her Honestly podcast.
âWe do not want to see war. This is not a president that campaigned on starting wars. And as he said very clearly, Iran is not going to have a nuclear weapon, and he reserves every right to prevent that from happening, but he would prefer it not happen. He would prefer that there not be a need to resort to military force, either by us or anybody else. He would prefer that itâd be something that we can negotiate.â

Federal and local law enforcement agencies arrested 46 Honduran nationals on drug trafficking charges in Portland, Oregon, following an extensive joint operation to disrupt open-air drug markets in Multnomah County. Authorities seized an array of illicit drugs, firearms, and cash. The Honduran nationals were reportedly working on behalf of the Mexican Sinaloa Drug Cartel, a designated foreign terror group, according to a press release.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Seattle Field Division said that the apprehended âHonduran drug traffickersâ flooded the Portland area with âdeadly fentanyl and other drugs.â The enforcement operation that netted 46 arrests occurred in the first four months of 2025.
In total, authorities seized 44 pounds of fentanyl powder; 2,507 fentanyl pills; 22 pounds of methamphetamine; nine pounds of cocaine; two pounds of heroin; 20 firearms; and $204,007 in cash, according to the DEA.
