The mysterious drones that caused alarm among many New Jersey residents last year were in large part authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration, the White House said Tuesday.
The large number of unexplained nighttime drone sightings in New Jersey and other East Coast states created a panic which at one point shut down an airport.
Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, now says many of those drones were authorized and known by the government.
President Donald Trump’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) on Monday ordered a massive freeze on all federal aid programs outside of Social Security, Medicare and other assistance that goes directly to individuals.
The two-page memo, which is set to take effect on Tuesday night, could impact lower-income households that rely on Medicaid, school breakfast and lunch programs; Section 8 rental assistance, and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, according to Roll Call.
The memo also noted that the OMB can grant exceptions to the order on a case-by-case basis.
A violent Tren de Aragua ringleader sought in an infamous, caught-on-camera break-in in Aurora, Colo., was nabbed Tuesday in a dramatic pre-dawn raid in New York City — across from an elementary school, sources said.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem joined Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and officers on the streets of New York City. The newly sworn DHS secretary said she was in New York to get the “dirtbags off the streets.”
Noem spoke to a gathering of ICE, Secret Service, U.S. Marshals Service, and NYPD Special Ops agents and officers during an operational briefing on Tuesday morning in New York City. In a video posted on X this morning, Noem said the team is “getting the dirtbags off the streets.”
During the briefing, the DHS secretary, wearing bulletproof tactical gear, thanked “the brave officers involved.”

New York Magazine has been slammed for editing out black attendees from a front cover spread on the ‘young, gleeful and casually cruel’ MAGA faithful.
A reporter chronicled an inauguration party in Washington on January 20 at Butterworth’s bistro alongside young Republicans celebrating Donald Trump’s return to the White House.
After the report made the front page of NY Magazine, the publication was called out for cropping the main image to remove any person of color – making it appear like the only ‘casually cruel’ Trump fans in attendance were all white.
Actor Anthony Mackie, who portrays Marvel’s Captain America in the new installation “Captain America: Brave New World,” said in an interview recently that he believes the character does not represent America.
“Captain America represents a lot of different things and I don’t think the term ‘America’ should be one of those representations. It’s about a man who keeps his word, who has honor, dignity and integrity.”
“Someone who is trustworthy and dependable,” he added.
A plus-sized rapper has sued Lyft after claiming a driver refused to pick her up over fears she was too big to fit in his car and could ‘burst his tyres’.
Dank Demoss, 36, real name Dajua Blanding, filmed her interaction with the Lyft driver earlier this month, showing her arguing back and forth over whether she could fit into his vehicle.
‘I can fit in this car,’ Demoss said.
