šµ Education Dept Abolished
Good morning. Itās Thursday, March 6.

President Trump is expected to issue an executive order as soon as Thursday aimed at abolishing the Education Department, according to WSJ.
A draft of the order, viewed by The Wall Street Journal, directs Education Secretary Linda McMahon to ātake all necessary steps to facilitate the closure of the Education Departmentā based on āthe maximum extent appropriate and permitted by law.ā
The order has been in the works since Trumpās transition. In early February the Journal reported that administration officials were considering such a move.

The House voted Thursday to censure Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) for his protest during President Trumpās address to Congress this week ā a disruptive display that prompted his removal from the House chamber.
The House adopted the measure in a largely party-line 224-198-2 vote, making Green the 28th member of the House to receive the congressional rebuke. The censure resolution dubbed Greenās display āa breach of proper conduct.ā
Ten Democrats voted with Republicans in favor of the censure. Green voted āpresent.ā

Republican Utah Sen. Mike Lee and Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie will reintroduce legislation Wednesday afternoon to abolish the Federal Reserve.
The bill, titled the Federal Reserve Board Abolition Act, would dissolve the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and each Federal Reserve bank with a one-year timeframe. The bill would also repeal the 1913-era legislation that created the central bank to oversee U.S. monetary policy, according to the bill text shared exclusively with the Daily Caller News Foundation.
The congressional Republicansā reintroduction of legislation to abolish the central bank comes after President Donald Trump has repeatedly floated exerting more authority over the Federal Reserve and the its monetary policy decisions.

Senate Republicans called on the Trump administration Wednesday to use the formal rescissions process to claw back money already appropriated by Congress that the āDepartment of Government Efficiencyā has identified as wasteful.
Itās also a way to avoid legal setbacks that have befallen the White House in its push to freeze agency budgets and programs, including foreign aid accounts.
One day after President Donald Trump singled out small-dollar examples of waste in his joint address to Congress, the de facto leader of the DOGE effort, Elon Musk, came to the Capitol to soothe concerns over how some of the cuts have been implemented. Many lawmakers have expressed alarm at the wholesale gutting of agencies and the firing of thousands of federal employees.

President Emmanuel Macron said heāll enter into talks to use Franceās nuclear capabilities to defend European allies, in the latest push by a European country to establish strategic security as the US reduces its footprint on the continent.
āOur nuclear deterrent protects us,ā Macron said in a televised address Wednesday. āI have decided to open the strategic debate on the protection, through our deterrent, of our allies on the European continent.ā
The French presidentās remarks came ahead of an emergency meeting of EU leaders in Brussels on Thursday for talks on Ukraine and the continentās wider security. Macron said his decision follows a request from the German chancellor-in-waiting Friedrich Merz.

Vice President JD Vance said Wednesday that President Trump hopes to build the entire wall along the southern border by the time his term concludes, an ambitious goal that Mr. Trump was unable to realize in his first term.
Vance made the comments as he, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard made a day trip to the border town of Eagle Pass, Texas, to highlight the Trump administrationās efforts to combat illegal crossings and drug trafficking. Their visit comes a day following Mr. Trumpās joint address to Congress, in which immigration played a prominent role.
Illegal border crossings at the U.S. southern border have plummeted since Mr. Trump took office, but the presidentās recent speeches feature fewer mentions of building a physical border wall than they did during his 2016 campaign and first term.

CNN issued a correction after the network inaccurately asserted that President Donald Trump āfalsely claimedā the Biden administration spent $8 million to make mice transgender.
During his joint address to Congress on Tuesday, Trump cited several examples of āappalling wasteā he had cut, including $8.2 million in NIH-funded studies on āgender-affirmingā hormone treatments mice.
CNNās Deidre McPhillips initially tried to dispute the claim, arguing only about $500,000 had been allocated for similar research in monkeys ā she was later forced to issue a correction after the White House proved CNNās āfact checkā inaccurate in a statement.

Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday called for lawmakers to make permanent existing state laws banning public and private mandates for Floridians to receive mRNA COVID-19 vaccines.
āIām here as governor making these protections permanent,ā he said. āYou should not be forced to take an mRNA shot against your will. That should be the right of every Floridian.ā
āWeāve got to make that permanent,ā DeSantis said. āWe cannot allow those protections to evaporate.ā
