1. FBI Foils Bioterror Plot

Federal authorities in Detroit on Tuesday announced charges against a Chinese scholar at the University of Michigan and her boyfriend, a scientific researcher, for allegedly conspiring to smuggle a dangerous biological pathogen into the U.S.—a pathogen capable of damaging agricultural crops and causing illness in humans and livestock.

University of Michigan scholar Yunqing Jian, 33, and her boyfriend, Zunyong Liu, 34, both Chinese citizens, were charged in a criminal complaint with conspiracy, smuggling goods into the U.S., making false statements, and visa fraud, interim Detroit U.S. Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon Jr. announced.

According to the criminal complaint, Jian received Chinese government funding to work on the dangerous pathogen in China. A pathogen is a microorganism or biological agent that can cause disease or illness.

2. Judge Orders Trump to Resume Trans Procedures in Prisons

A federal judge on Tuesday issued a sweeping block of President Donald Trump’s order to stop taxpayer-funded transgender procedures for prisoners.

U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth of Washington, D.C., granted class-action status to a lawsuit brought by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The ACLU filed the lawsuit on behalf of over 1,000 federal prison inmates who are taking advantage of taxpayer-funded prison systems to finance clothing, hormones, and other expenses.

“In light of the plaintiffs’ largely personal motives for undergoing gender-affirming care, neither the BOP nor the Executive Order provides any serious explanation as to why the treatment modalities covered by the Executive Order or implementing memoranda should be handled differently than any other mental health intervention,” Lamberth wrote in a 36-page ruling.

3. WH Sends Congress Request for $9.4B in DOGE Cuts

Well that didn’t take long… hours after Elon Musk raged against the GOP’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’, the White House sent Congress a request to claw back $9.4 billion in funding for foreign aid and public broadcasting – the first move to codify cuts identified by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

According to White House budget director Russ Vought, the White House ‘chose the easiest DOGE cuts to start recissions’ which would cancel the $9.4 billion in previously appropriated funds.

The recissions include $1.1 billion in cuts for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which distribute funding to NPR and PBS, and $8.3 billion in cuts to USAID.

4. Intruder Arrested at Mar-a-Lago — Wanted to ‘Marry’ Kai Trump

A man detained by the Secret Service early Tuesday morning after attempting to jump the wall at President Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago resort, reportedly told law enforcement that he wanted to gain entry to “spread the gospel” to Trump and marry his teenage granddaughter.

Anthony Thomas Reyes, 23, was arrested by the Palm Beach Police Department early Tuesday morning after attempting to unlawfully enter the president’s Florida resort, according to booking records from the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office.

The police report detailing the incident reportedly chronicled how Reyes, who was previously arrested over the New Year’s holiday after once again trying to illegally enter Mar-a-Lago, told officers he wanted to get into Trump’s resort to “spread the gospel” to the president and marry his granddaughter, Kai.

5. Trump Jr Is Launching ‘Amazon for Guns’

Donald Trump Jr. has announced the upcoming launch of an online firearm retailer, GrabAGun, which he and his partners have described as the “Amazon of guns.” The platform aims to provide a streamlined shopping experience for firearms and accessories while adhering to federal safety regulations.

Speaking to the media on June 3, Trump Jr. explained the motivation behind the venture, highlighting a growing demand for firearms among groups not traditionally associated with gun ownership.

“There’s women coming into the marketplace for self-defense,” he said. “There’s a younger generation that’s shifting to the conservative side that understands the need to exercise their Second Amendment.”

6. Trump Vows ‘Large-Scale Fines’ on California Over Trans Athletes

President Donald Trump vowed to place “large-scale fines” on California after a transgender athlete competed in a girls’ high school track and field event and won gold.

“A Biological Male competed in California Girls State Finals, WINNING BIG, despite the fact that they were warned by me not to do so,” Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth Social on Tuesday, telling Gov. Gavin Newsom that “large scale fines will be imposed.” The president did not provide more details about the fine.

The president’s comment was made days after he wrote that he may withhold federal funding if California doesn’t comply with an executive order he signed months ago, which bans transgender athletes from competing in women’s and girls’ sports. The order specifically directs federal agencies to cut off funding to states that refuse to enforce the ban, although some states have yet to comply.

7. Liberal Opposition Leader Wins South Korea Presidency

South Korean Liberal opposition leader Lee Jae-myung has won the snap election and is the country’s new president.

His rival, conservative candidate Kim Moon-soo, conceded defeat and congratulated Lee for his victory.

Lee has 48.4% of the vote vs. 42.6% for Kim, with 90% of the votes counted.
