Good morning. Itâs Friday, May 16.

FBI Director Kash Patel said in an interview published Friday that the bureau will leave the J. Edgar Hoover Building in Washington and send 1,500 agents into the field.
Patel confirmed the plans in an interview set to air on Fox Newsâs Sunday Morning Futures this weekend. He said he will give each state a âplus-upâ as the FBI disperses agents away from Washington.
âIn the National Capital Region, in the 50-mile radius around Washington, D.C., there were 11,000 FBI employees. Thatâs like a third of the workforce. A third of the crime doesnât happen here,â Patel said. âSo weâre taking 1,500 of those folks and moving them out. Every stateâs getting a plus-up.â

President Donald Trumpâs âbig, beautiful billâ failed to pass the House Budget Committee on Friday, in what appears to be a massive blow to House GOP leadersâ plans to hold a House-wide vote next week.
Republican Reps. Chip Roy of Texas, Josh Brecheen of Oklahoma, Andrew Clyde of Georgia and Ralph Norman of South Carolina all voted against the legislation.
A fifth House Republican, Rep. Lloyd Smucker of Pennsylvania, also switched his vote from âyesâ to âno,â though it was a procedural maneuver that allows him to bring the legislation up again. Smucker told reporters he was âquite confidentâ in the billâs success.

President Trump said Friday the U.S. will unilaterally set tariff rates for many trading partners in the coming weeks, citing a lack of capacity to negotiate with so many countries simultaneously.
The U.S. already did that to some degree, on âLiberation Dayâ last month, then paused most of those rates after a global market panic sent stocks plunging and interest rates soaring.
Trumpâs original goal of making 90 deals during that 90-day pause has run into the reality of trade negotiations being far more complex than putting a number on paper.

Newly-appointed head of the Department of Justice (DOJ) Weaponization Working Group Ed Martin revealed Thursday that he may spend time looking into bar associations for targeting conservative attorneys.
Martin, who says he is being targeted by the D.C. Office of Disciplinary Counsel, told the Daily Caller News Foundation he wants to expose the âweaponization of the bar associations against lawyers.â
âThe bar associations exist with a sort of monopoly, but they also exist at the discretion of the courts,â he said, noting they mostly target conservatives. âIâve seen the impact on the legal system, not only advocates like myself who are targeted, but rank and file prosecutors who are abused by the system because the left wants to have sort of lawlessness.â

A teenage trans activist has been accused of threatening to assassinate Nancy Mace, the most outspoken lawmaker in Congress on transgender issues.
Samuel Theodore Cain, 19, of Greenville, South Carolina, was arrested and charged with threatening the life of a public official on Thursday, the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) announced.
Cain, who goes by âRoxie Wolfeâ online, posted in April: âIâm going to assassinate (redacted) with a gun and Iâm being 100% dead a**,â according to a copy of the arrest warrant.

A teenage illegal immigrant who killed a 24-year-old Colorado woman during a high-speed crash was given a lenient plea deal by a progressive district attorney that allowed him to walk free without serving any jail time.
The 15-year-old Colombian teen, who has not been publicly named because of state laws that shield the identity of underage criminal suspects, was sentenced to two years probation and 100 hours of community service for the July 2024 death of Kaitlyn Weaver, her father, John Weaver, told Fox News Digital.
The office of Arapahoe County District Attorney Amy Padden offered the teen a plea deal if he admitted his guilt in the deadly crash.

On Thursday, the sheriffâs department confirmed that it has opened an investigation into the allegations made against the 85-year-old singer in a lawsuit filed last Tuesday.
âThe Los Angeles County Sheriffâs Department Special Victims Bureau is actively investigating criminal allegations involving William Robinson aka âSmokey Robinson.â The investigation is in the early stages, and we have no further comment,â a representative for the LASD said in a statement shared with Fox News Digital.
