🔵 Fed Governor Resigns

Federal Reserve Governor Adriana Kugler announced Friday she is stepping down from her role at the central bank, creating an important vacancy at a time when President Donald Trump is pushing for lower interest rates.
In a letter addressed to Trump, Kugler, 55, did not state a reason for her decision to leave, only noting that she will be returning to Georgetown University as a professor in the fall.
“It has been an honor of a lifetime to serve on the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System,” Kugler wrote. “I am especially honored to have served during a critical time in achieving our dual mandate of bringing down prices and keeping a strong and resilient labor market.”

A shooting at a Montana bar Friday left four people dead, and law enforcement officers were searching for a suspect described by his niece as a former U.S. soldier who struggled to get help for mental health problems.
Officers searched a mountainous area west of the small town of Anaconda for the 45-year-old suspect, Michael Paul Brown. He lived next door to the site of the 10:30 a.m. shooting at the Owl Bar, according to public records and bar owner David Gwerder.
The bartender and three patrons were killed, said Gwerder, who was not there at the time. He believed the four victims were the only ones present during the shooting, and was not aware of any prior conflicts between them and Brown.

Elon Musk gave $5 million to Donald Trump’s super PAC during a dramatic and bitter falling out with the president, new filings show.
The donation to MAGA Inc. was made a month after Musk said he had “done enough” political spending, and he also gave $10 million that same day to help Republicans keep control of Congress.
The contributions came weeks into Musk’s public feud with Trump, as the tech billionaire was slamming Republicans for voting for the megabill that he argued would blow up the deficit. Still, the SpaceX CEO donated $5 million each to the Congressional Leadership Fund, the Senate Leadership Fund and MAGA Inc. on June 27, according to the groups’ filings with the Federal Election Commission on Thursday. Those are the top super PACs supporting the House and Senate Republicans and the Trump political operation.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) official who approved a $2 million in settlements for disgraced Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page — whose anti-Trump texts became central to allegations of political bias in the bureau’s 2016 Trump-Russia probe — is a left-wing activist, according to a Friday report.
Through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed by the Center to Advance Security in America in 2024, it was revealed the DOJ’s former Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Federal Programs Branch, Brian Netter, was responsible for approving the settlement agreements, according to The Federalist.
Netter, who served under Attorney General (AG) Merrick Garland, has since been working as the Legal Director for Democracy Forward.

Hamas has released video of emaciated Israeli hostages being held in Gaza in an apparent attempt to weaponise starvation.
Evyatar David, 24, from the city of Kfar Saba, is seen inside a tunnel, bare-chested, with only a dirty mattress and a small bottle of water.
Mr David, who was kidnapped from the Nova music festival on Oct 7 2023, does not say anything in the video, which also shows images of emaciated Palestinian children.

Palantir has inked a contract with the U.S. Army worth up to $10 billion to meet growing warfare demands over the next decade.
As part of the deal, Palantir will help the military streamline efficiencies while preparing for threats, consolidating 75 total contracts into one enterprise deal, the release states.
The agreement creates a “comprehensive framework for the Army’s future software and data needs” that provides the government with purchasing flexibility and removes contract-related fees and procurement timelines, according to a release.
