3. Federal Judge Rules Google Operates âIllegal Monopoliesâ... Forced Breakup of Is Now Possible

At least five people have been killed in a horror mass shooting at Florida State Universityâs Tallahasseeâs campus.
Cops reportedly said two gunmen opened fire around midday near the campusâ student union on Thursday, with one suspect in custody and another killed by police. They have not been identified.

US President Donald Trump blocked a planned Israeli strike on Iranian nuclear sites in favor of negotiating a deal with Iran to limit its nuclear program, the New York Times reported on Wednesday, citing administration officials and others with information on the matter.
Trumpâs decision came after discussions on whether to provide support to the Jewish state or follow a diplomatic course, with some in Washington favoring a more hawkish approach. In contrast, others were dubious that a strike could destroy the Islamic Republicâs nuclear capabilities.
However, an agreement was ultimately obtained, deciding against military action as Iran consented to talks.

Alphabetâs Google illegally dominates two markets for online advertising technology, a judge ruled on Thursday, dealing another blow to the tech giant and paving the way for U.S. antitrust prosecutors to seek a breakup of its advertising products.
U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema in Alexandria, Virginia, found Google liable for âwillfully acquiring and maintaining monopoly powerâ in markets for publisher ad servers and the market for ad exchanges which sit between buyers and sellers.
The decision clears the way for another hearing to determine what Google must do to restore competition in those markets, such as sell off parts of its business at another trial that has yet to be scheduled. It is the second court ruling that Google holds an illegal monopoly, following a similar judgement in a case over online search.

President Donald Trump on Thursday again called for the Federal Reserve to lower rates and even hinted at the âterminationâ of Chair Jerome Powell.
In a Truth Social post, Trump said:
âThe ECB is expected to cut interest rates for the 7th time, and yet, âToo Lateâ Jerome Powell of the Fed, who is always TOO LATE AND WRONG, yesterday issued a report which was another, and typical, complete âmess!â Oil prices are down, groceries (even eggs!) are down, and the USA is getting RICH ON TARIFFS. Too Late should have lowered Interest Rates, like the ECB, long ago, but he should certainly lower them now. Powellâs termination cannot come fast enough!â

The European Central Bank made yet another 25-basis-point interest rate cut on Thursday as global tariff turmoil has created widespread uncertainty and spurred fears about the euro zoneâs economic growth.
A rate cut was fully anticipated by markets, with a roughly 94% chance of a 25-basis-point trim being priced in ahead of the decision, according to LSEG data.
The cut takes the ECBâs deposit facility rate, its key rate, to 2.25%. At its highs in mid-2023 it had been at 4%.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is expected to meet with President Donald Trump on Thursday in a move to ease tensions and play intermediary between the White House and the European Union amid the litany of tariffs the president has levied against the bloc.
Trump has referred to Meloni as a âfantastic leader and person,â and the Italian prime minister was one of the few international leaders to attend his January inauguration.
But the Italian leader is believed to have more on her mind than maintaining positive relations with Trump. She is looking to lead the charge in protecting the EUâs economy.

President Donald J. Trump has enacted a Presidential Memorandum to prevent illegal aliens and those deemed ineligible from accessing benefits provided through the Social Security Act.
The directive involves a series of enforcement measures intended to safeguard taxpayer dollars, remove incentives for illegal immigration, and address instances of benefit fraud.
Key components of this initiative include the Social Security Administration (SAA) collaborating with at least 50 U.S. Attorney Offices to strengthen its fraud prosecutor program.

Sen. Bernie Sanders has crisscrossed the country on his nationwide Fighting Oligarchy Tour to rail against billionaires and supposed âoligarchsâ like Elon Muskâwhile traveling like an oligarch himself.
Campaign expenditures released Tuesday and reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon show Sandersâs main campaign committee, Friends of Bernie Sanders, spent $221,723 chartering private jets during the first quarter of 2025, with the first payment coming just days before the launch of his tour in February.
âWe will not accept a rigged economy where working people struggle while billionaires become richer,â Sanders said during the tourâs latest event in California on Tuesday. âWe have got to create an economy that works for working people, not just Mr. Musk and the billionaire class.â But Sanders has had no issue splurging on private jets far beyond the means of working people, even as he has ramped up his attacks on the rich.
