🔵 IRS Loses Big
Good evening. It’s Saturday, March 22.

Senior tax officials are bracing for a sharp drop in revenue collected this spring, as an increasing number of individuals and businesses spurn filing their taxes or attempt to skip paying balances owed to the Internal Revenue Service, according to three people with knowledge of tax projections.
Treasury Department and IRS officials are predicting a decrease of more than 10 percent in tax receipts by the April 15 deadline compared with 2024, said the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to share nonpublic data. That would amount to more than $500 billion in lost federal revenue; the IRS collected $5.1 trillion last year. For context, the U.S. government spent $825 billion on the Defense Department in fiscal 2024.
“The idea of doing that in one year, it’s hard to grapple with how meaningful of a shift that represents,” said Natasha Sarin, president of the Yale Budget Lab and a senior Biden administration tax official.

A former United States attorney was found dead in Virginia Saturday morning, just two months after leaving office.
Jessica D. Aber, 43, worked as the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia from 2021 to 2025. Appointed by former President Joe Biden, she served in the role until resigning Jan. 20.
In a news release Saturday, the Alexandria Police Department (APD) confirmed Aber’s death, reporting it received a call about an “unresponsive woman” at around 9:18 a.m. Saturday.

Hundreds of FBI employees have been working long shifts examining documents from the bureau’s investigation into the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, making only limited redactions that some officials worry will expose sensitive information about sex-abuse victims and witnesses, people familiar with the matter said.
Attorney General Pam Bondi ordered the review after a first batch of Epstein files she released in February fell short of expectations. She had promoted the earlier release for days, but the material contained few new revelations, drawing criticism from right-wing influencers.
Bondi promised there was more to come, saying a source in the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s New York field office had told her the bureau withheld thousands of pages of Epstein-related documents. FBI Director Kash Patel promised “no stone left unturned.”

As President Donald Trump entered the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for the NCAA wrestling championship, he was greeted with thunderous applause and chants of “USA! USA” from the crowd.
In a video posted to X by the official Rapid Response account for the White House, the crowd could be heard loudly cheering as Trump entered the arena.

When Israel’s defense minister on Friday threatened to take the Gaza Strip from Hamas piece by piece, he was not just saber-rattling.
Rather, Israel Katz was describing a war plan that already appeared to be underway. Amid airstrikes across Gaza starting early Tuesday, Israeli ground forces on Wednesday retook much of the Netzarim Corridor in central Gaza and on Thursday entered the cities of Beit Lahiya in the north of the strip and Khan Younis and Rafah in the south, according to military officials.
“If the Hamas terror organization continues to refuse to release the hostages, I have instructed the Israel Defense Forces to capture additional areas, evacuate the population, and expand the security zone around Gaza … through permanent control of the area by Israel,” Katz said in a statement. “The longer Hamas continues its refusal, the more and more land it will lose that will be added to Israel.”

The EPA canceled two multimillion-dollar environmental justice grants that Democratic Reps. Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) and Ilhan Omar (Minn.) helped to secure just weeks before President Donald Trump took office, the Washington Free Beacon has reported.
Pelosi helped secure a $20 million grant awarded to the San Francisco County Transportation Authority to help develop six green transportation projects—including the purchase of an electric bus, installation of electric ferry charging ports, and creation of a bike-share program.
“This project will create a cleaner, greener city where reliable public transportation promotes equity and opportunity for all San Franciscans,” Pelosi said in a statement announcing the grant in December.

The first daughter, 43, has taken up martial arts and flaunted her impressive skills on social media Friday.
Trump practiced the combat sport on a blue mat in a video posted by the Valente Brothers, a trio of siblings — including Gisele Bündchen’s boyfriend, Joaquim Valente — who co-own a jiu-jitsu studio.
In the clip, President Trump’s daughter wore a white robe and a blue belt, which means she has reached a significant level in her teachings, as it typically requires a minimum of two years of consistent training.
