CNN chief domestic correspondent Jim Acosta is expected to leave the cable news network after his show was replaced and he was yanked from all scheduled programming, according to a report.
Last week, the anchorâs 10 a.m. slot on the network was replaced with âThe Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brownâ due to the networkâs schedule rearrangement.
At the time, there was no official word on where Acosta would fit in, but the network apparently asked him to take on the graveyard shift with a midnight program just days before President Trumpâs inauguration.
More than a dozen officials who worked on the criminal investigations into Donald Trump have been fired, according to sources familiar with the matter.
A letter from acting Attorney General James McHenry to the officials said they cannot be âtrustedâ to âfaithfullyâ implement Trumpâs agenda.
âYou played a significant role in prosecuting President Trump. The proper functioning of government critically depends on the trust superior officials place in their subordinates,â McHenry wrote. âGiven your significant role in prosecuting the President, I do not believe that the leadership of the Department can trust you to assist in implementing the Presidentâs agenda faithfully.â
U.S. Border Patrol agents near Fronton, Texas, reportedly exchanged gunfire at the southern border with suspected drug cartel gunmen from Mexico.
There were no injuries in the incident near Fronton Island, an uninhabited island in the Rio Grande in Starr County, Texas, according to reports. The island is a disputed territory about which Texas and Mexico have made conflicting ownership claims.

A northwest Indiana man who was charged in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021 breach of the U.S. Capitol building was shot and killed by an Indiana sheriffâs deputy during a traffic stop Sunday afternoon.
The shooting happened at 4:15 p.m. during a traffic stop on State Road 14, east of County Road 475 E, near the Pulaski County line.
During the traffic stop, a Jasper County sheriffâs deputy attempted to arrest the suspect, but the suspect resisted, officials said.
