1. Mahmoud Khalil Released

Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil was released from federal immigration detention on Friday following a judge’s ruling.

Khalil was detained more than three months ago as the first case in a wave of crackdowns against foreign students involved in campus protests.

“My priority now is to get back to my wife and son,” Khalil told reporters after his release. “Although justice prevailed, it is very long overdue.”

2. Mag 5.1 Quake Hits Iran

A strong earthquake of 5.1 magnitude has struck northern Iran amid a war with Israel.

The quake struck some 22 miles away from Iran’s Semnan region at 9:19pm local time and was also felt in Tehran’s Qom region.

The quake struck only 6.2miles (10km) deep, relatively shallow.

The targeted IDF strikes on nine nuclear scientists last Friday, named Operation Narnia, saw the scientists all killed simultaneously while sleeping in their homes, Channel 12 reported on Thursday night.

Israel launched Operation “Rising Lion” last Friday, marking a powerful opening strike in its war against Iran. The operation successfully eliminated many senior figures in the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and key individuals involved in Iran’s nuclear program.

Operation Narnia, a name that reflects the operation’s improbable nature, like something out of a fantasy tale rather than a real-world event.

4. Trump Floats Firing Fed Chief Powell

President Trump on Friday floated the possibility of firing Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell as part of his latest round of intense criticism of the leader of the central bank over its decision not to lower interest rates.

Trump, in a lengthy post on Truth Social, railed against Powell, labeling him a “numbskull,” “a dumb guy,” “and an obvious Trump Hater.” Trump appointed Powell to the post in 2017.

“I fully understand that my strong criticism of him makes it more difficult for him to do what he should be doing, lowering Rates, but I’ve tried it all different ways,” Trump posted. “I’ve been nice, I’ve been neutral, and I’ve been nasty, and nice and neutral didn’t work!”

5. Trump Rebukes Tulsi Gabbard on Iran

President Donald Trump directly rebuked Tulsi Gabbard, his own director of national intelligence, during a Q&A with reporters on Friday afternoon amid reports that she’s an increasingly irrelevant figure within his administration.

After being asked by MSNBC’s Vaughn Hillyard about why he was considering a strike on Iran given his expressed opposition to the Bush administration’s war in Iraq, Trump stated that Iran had gathered “a tremendous amount of [nuclear] material.”

“What intelligence do you have that Iran is building a nuclear weapon? Your intelligence community has said they have no evidence that they are at this point,” followed up Hillyard.

6. Michelle Obama: I'm Glad I Don't Have a Son

Former first lady Michelle Obama spoke about parenting this week on her IMO podcast, saying she’s glad in retrospect she never had to deal with the pressure of raising a son with Barack Obama.

The former first lady and her brother, Craig Robinson, spoke at length about modern parenting with their guest, Hot 97 radio personality Angie Martinez, on Wednesday. Obama warned that as much as parents love their children, they need to raise them to deal with the world as it is, with all of the hazards that entails, rather than the way they wish the world to be.

“Please, mothers, please make these men ready. Get them ready for hurt and disappointment and make them resilient,” she said. “And you can’t do that if you’re monitoring his friends and trying to interfere and make life easy for him at a young age. Because he won’t be ready for what is inevitably out there. I don’t care what race he is.”

7. Barron Trump 'Made Millions' from Crypto

Barron Trump, the youngest son of the 47th President, may have raked in millions of dollars from the sale of crypto tokens linked to the family’s lucrative venture into digital tokens, according to a report.

The 19-year-old New York University student could have picked up a cool $40 million — $25 million after taxes — from the sale of digital assets by World Liberty Financial, the Trump family firm launched nine months ago after Barron persuaded his dad about the benefits of crypto, Forbes reported.

“Barron knows so much about this,” commander-in-chief said during an interview in September after the launch. “Barron’s a young guy, but he knows it — he talks about his wallet. He’s got four wallets or something, and I’m saying, ‘What is a wallet?’”
