🔵 Massive Storm Hits US

Good evening. It’s Sunday, March 16.

At least 40 people are dead after tornadoes, high winds and wildfires hit more than a half-dozen states since Thursday.

Although the Sunday outlook was less dire, more severe thunderstorms with potential tornadoes were expected from Pennsylvania to Florida.

Fatalities occurred in Georgia, Mississippi, Arkansas and Alabama from tornadoes that raced at highway speeds on Friday through Saturday night and into Sunday morning.

US warships have shot down roughly a dozen Houthi drones since President Donald Trump launched airstrikes against the terrorist organization on Saturday, Fox News has reported.

A senior defense official told Fox News of the developments on Sunday.

The drones were aimed at the US Navy’s Truman Carrier Strike Group, and were shot down “well before” they posed a serious threat, the official added.

President Donald Trump and his administration hit a major milestone in the most recent NBC News poll, as 44% of Americans now believe that the United States is “headed in the right direction.”

NBC News pollster Steve Kornacki broke down the numbers with “Meet the Press” anchor Kristen Welker during Sunday morning’s broadcast, and he noted that the last president to see a number that high was former President George W. Bush, just months ahead of his re-election in 2004.

“First of all, the mood of the country — this really jumped out,” Kornacki began. “We asked folks is it on the right direction or the wrong direction, that 44% who say right direction, that’s up since November [27%]. And if that doesn’t seem like a lot, the last time it cracked 40%, you gotta go back to 2012. The last time it actually hit 44 or higher — January of 2004.”

El Salvador President Nayib Bukele said it’s partnership with the U.S. on transferring illegal immigrants linked to gang activity to prison in El Salvador helps both countries crack down on crime.

Under Bukele, the homicide rate has dropped to its lowest point since the civil war in El Salvador in 1992.

“The first 238 members of the Venezuelan criminal organization, Tren de Aragua, arrived in our country. They were immediately transferred to CECOT, the Terrorism Confinement Center, for a period of one year (renewable). The United States will pay a very low fee for them, but a high one for us,” Bukele wrote on X.

Journalist Alex Berensen cited two large German newspapers in revealing that Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service (BND) has long had evidence that the Covid-19 virus originally came from a US-funded lab in Wuhan, China.

According to these reports, at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in Europe in 2020, the German government commissioned a secret intelligence operation under the codename of Saaremaa to investigate the origins of the Covid-19 virus, also known as SARS-CoV-2. When they concluded that a lab leak was most likely, the German Chancellery ordered that the results were to be kept hidden from the public.

The UK Knew Too…

The Daily Mail reports that “a former spy chief submitted a secret dossier to No 10 early in the pandemic reporting that the virus had originated with a leak from a Wuhan facility.”

The Democratic Party has reached an all-time low in popularity in the latest national NBC News poll, as it searches for a path forward after a painful loss to President Donald Trump — and as the party’s voters spoil for a fight between their leaders in Washington and Trump.

Just over a quarter of registered voters (27%) say they have positive views of the party, which is the party’s lowest positive rating in NBC News polling dating back to 1990. Just 7% say those views are “very” positive.

“With these numbers, the Democratic Party is not in need of a rebrand. It needs to be rebooted,” said Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt of Hart Research Associates, who conducted the survey along with GOP pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinion Strategies.

A video of a man eating a dead rat while sitting on a New York City sidewalk in broad daylight went viral on social media on Saturday.

In the clip, a man is sitting on a Bronx sidewalk when he picks up the rodent and begins to eat from its corpse with no apparent care in the world.

According to The New York Post, the man ate his meal near 149th Street and Third Avenue while onlookers stood in disbelief on March 1. The video began to spread across social media over the weekend.

The Holy See Press Office releases a photo of Pope Francis in prayer after having concelebrated the Eucharist on Sunday morning. This is the first photo since his hospitalization on 14 February. Pope Francis’ medical condition remains stable and his respiratory therapy and physiotherapy continue.

In the photo of Pope Francis taken from behind him, he is seated in a wheelchair, wearing a cassock and stole after concelebrating Mass. The photo shows him looking at the crucifix on the altar of the chapel on the tenth floor of the hospital where he has gone to pray every day since his medical condition has shown slight improvements.

This is the first photo of Pope Francis since he was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on 14 February. The Holy See Press Office distributed the photo on Sunday evening 16 March.
