🔵 Musk Declares War

Tech billionaire Elon Musk said Saturday he has officially formed the “America Party,” a third political faction to rival Democrats and Republicans.
“By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it. When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy,” Musk wrote in a post on the social platform X, which he owns, after putting out a poll questioning X users if they wanted a third political party.
“Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom,” he added.

Israel rejected Hamas’ proposed changes to the latest Gaza hostage and ceasefire deal, but will send negotiators to Qatar on Sunday to try to close remaining gaps, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said Saturday.
While key hurdles remain, the resumption of indirect talks in Qatar is a significant step toward a potential ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
The two parties haven’t engaged in negotiations since the previous round of talks collapsed six weeks ago.

The death toll in the devastating Guadalupe River flash flood in Texas has risen to 43 — including 28 adults and 15 children in Kerr County, officials said in a grim Saturday night update.
At least five of the dead — Renee Smajstrla, 8; Sarah Marsh, 8; Janie Hunt, 9; and Lila Bonner, 9, and Eloise Peck, 8 — were attending Camp Mystic, a Christian summer retreat for girls where 22 other campers were still unaccounted for.
Family members took to social media to post the heartbreaking news.

Two American aid workers were injured on Saturday following a grenade attack perpetrated by Hamas on a Gaza aid distribution site.
The U.S.- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which distributes aid to Palestinians in Gaza amid the Israel-Hamas war, said two of its workers, both American veterans, were injured after two “assailants” threw Iranian-made grenades at them while stationed at the GHF’s aid site in Khan Younis. The two aid workers were in stable condition as of this morning and were treated with non-life-threatening injuries.
“GHF has repeatedly warned of credible threats from Hamas, including explicit plans to target American personnel, Palestinian aid workers, and the civilians who rely on our sites for food. Today’s attack tragically affirms those warnings,” the organization said in a statement.

A protest by hundreds against gentrification and mass tourism that began peacefully Friday in Mexico City neighborhoods popular with tourists turned violent when a small number of people began smashing storefronts and harassing foreigners.
Masked protesters smashed through the windows and looted high-end businesses in the touristic areas of Condesa and Roma, and screamed at tourists in the area. Graffiti on glass shattered glass being smashed through with rocks read: “get out of Mexico.”
Protesters held signs reading “gringos, stop stealing our home” and demanding local legislation to better regulate tourism levels and stricter housing laws.

Peering across a dense stretch of woodland outside of Denmark’s capital with camouflage paint smeared across her face, 20-year-old Katrine scans the horizon for approaching threats.
After nearly four months of military training, the young soldier and the rest of her unit spent early June completing their final exercises near the Danish army’s barracks in Hovelte, 25 kilometres north of Copenhagen.
Katrine and other female soldiers, all of whom spoke to The Associated Press on June 11 on the condition that only their first names be used because of operational security, volunteered for military service earlier this year. Until now, that was the only way for women to be part of the armed forces.
