1. National Guard Deployed

Thousands of National Guardsmen will be deployed to Los Angeles “immediately” as a two-day protest against the Trump administration’s deportation efforts has turned violent and disrupted the city.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement that President Donald Trump signed a presidential memorandum on Saturday night deploying 2,000 National Guardsmen to the city “to address the lawlessness that has been allowed to fester,” pinning blame on “feckless” Democratic leaders in California who “have completely abdicated their responsibility to protect their citizens.”

Shortly after Leavitt’s statement, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the immediate mobilization of the National Guard to control the protests, which he described as “violent mob assaults” on law enforcement.

2. Right-Wing Colombian Presidential Candidate Shot

Colombian Senator Miguel Uribe, a potential presidential contender, was shot in Bogota on Saturday, according to the government and his party, as his wife said he was fighting for his life in the hospital.

The 39-year-old senator, who was shot during a campaign event as part of his run for the presidency in 2026, is a member of the opposition conservative Democratic Center party founded by former Colombian President Alvaro Uribe. The two men are not related.

According to a party statement condemning the attack, the senator was hosting a campaign event in a public park in the Fontibon neighborhood in the capital on Saturday when “armed subjects shot him from behind.

President Trump made a grand, heavyweight-style entrance to the UFC 316 fight Saturday night in New Jersey, sending the crowd into a frenzy of “USA!” chants.

The commander in chief walked ringside at the Prudential Center with UFC CEO Dana White scored to the Kid Rock song “ American Badass.”

Trump greeted several celebrities in attendance including former World Heavyweight Champion Boxer Mike Tyson and UFC announcer Joe Rogan.

4. Proud Boys Leaders Sue DOJ for $100M Over J6 Prosecution

Five leaders of the Proud Boys are suing the Department of Justice after the Biden administration found them guilty of engaging in a seditious conspiracy related to the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the US Capitol.

The lawsuit, filed by Henry “Enrique” Tarrio, Ethan Nordean, Joseph Biggs, Zachary Rehl and Dominic Pezzola, seeks $100 million, and claims that federal authorities violated the Constitution in an effort “to punish and oppress political allies of President Donald Trump, by any and all means necessary, legal, or illegal,” WaPo reports.

It comes on the heels of Trump’s January pardon of virtually all Jan. 6 defendants – which could saddle the Trump administration with the ironic task of defending the prosecutions, which many on the right view as political weaponization of government.

5. FAA to Restrict Newark Flights Following Outage Turmoil

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Friday announced it will restrict the number of arrivals and departures through the end of the year at the embattled Newark Liberty International Airport.

As the airport continues to experience outages and staffing shortages, the FAA said it would limit the number of arrivals and departures at the busy airport to 34 on weekdays from Sept. 1 through Oct. 25 and 28 per hour from Sept. 1 through Dec. 31 on weekends.

“The confirmed reduced rates will maintain safety while alleviating excessive flight delays at the airport due to staffing and equipment challenges,” the agency wrote in their order.

6. Parents Outraged Over LGBT Exhibit with Nudity Next to Playground

An LGBT “Rooted in Pride” art exhibit surrounding a children’s playground in Brooklyn, New York, features nude images and what appears to be a man dressed in drag, and promotes gender confusion and anti-Trump messages.

The LGBT content surrounds the JJ Byrne Playground, where families and children as young as toddlers play, according to images provided to The Daily Wire, and other images accessible via Google Maps. The art pieces will be displayed all summer long, until August 1.

One of the large photos surrounding the park is titled “Paint me like one of your polish girls,” by Lukasz Leja, who paints gay pornographic images, according to his website. Notably, the painting is called “Paint me like one of your polish h**s” on his site.
