đŸ”” Stephen Colbert Cancelled

Good evening. It’s Thursday, July 17.

CBS announced its plan to cancel “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” after the next TV season in a statement on Thursday, July 17.

The network claimed it was “purely a financial decision.”

“We consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire ‘The Late Show’ franchise’ in May of 2026,” CBS executives’ statement read. “We are proud that Stephen called CBS home. He and the broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late night television.”

President Trump on Thursday vowed to sue the Wall Street Journal over an article detailing a birthday letter the outlet said he sent to Jeffrey Epstein, the late financier and convicted sex offender.

Trump has denied writing the message, which the Journal said was part of a 2003 birthday gift, and said on Truth Social that he told the outlet the “supposed letter they printed by President Trump to Epstein was a FAKE.”

“President Trump will be suing The Wall Street Journal, NewsCorp, and Mr. Murdoch, shortly. The Press has to learn to be truthful, and not rely on sources that probably don’t even exist,” said a TruthSocial post from the president’s account.

Senate Republicans on Thursday blocked the latest Democratic attempt to formally demand that the Trump administration release files related to the government’s investigation of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Democrats on Capitol Hill are steadily ramping up the pressure on Republicans to break with President Trump, asserting that those who don’t are essentially colluding with a White House-led cover-up.

Sen. Ruben Gallego’s (D-Ariz.) request Thursday for unanimous consent to pass a resolution demanding the release of Epstein-related documents drew an objection from Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.), who called the move “pure theater.”

President Donald Trump directed Attorney General Pam Bondi on Thursday to “produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony” relating to sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

The order comes after the Wall Street Journal published a story concerning a birthday letter Trump wrote to Epstein that said the pair have “certain things in common.”

“Based on the ridiculous amount of publicity given to Jeffrey Epstein, I have asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval,” he wrote in a Truth Social post. “This SCAM, perpetuated by the Democrats, should end, right now!”

President Donald Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a condition characterized by diminished blood recirculation to the legs, the White House announced on Thursday.

Photos circulating this weekend of the president attending the FIFA Club World Cup final in New Jersey showed Trump exhibiting noticeable swelling in his lower half. Trump was also photographed earlier this week at the White House with bruising on the back of his right hand.

The White House did not publicly respond to internet speculation about Trump’s health until Thursday’s press briefing, when press secretary Karoline Leavitt informed reporters that Trump had been “thoroughly” screened by the White House medical team and that his test results had been read to provide “transparency” to the nation.

President Trump won’t recommend a special prosecutor in the Jeffrey Epstein case, his top spokeswoman said, adding that he sees no reason to further examine the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender.

“The president would not recommend a special prosecutor in the Epstein case. That’s how he feels,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Thursday. The Justice Department said in a memo last week that there isn’t a “client list” of other participants in Epstein’s trafficking of young girls, and that additional files wouldn’t be released.

The decision to not release more information has angered some of Trump’s prominent supporters, including some Republicans in Congress, who think there are members of the global elite connected to Epstein who are being protected by the administration’s silence. During the campaign, Trump, who had socialized with Epstein in the past, said he would release additional details about the investigation. Some of his top officials, including Attorney General Pam Bondi, promised more transparency into the matter.

The Trump White House has launched an investigation into former President Joe Biden and his top aides’ use of an autopen during Biden’s final months in office.

The new investigation, which will be carried out in conjunction with the Justice Department, according to top White House aides, comes as Republicans on the House Oversight Committee pursue their own investigation of Biden’s closest circle of White House advisers.

“The White House Counsel’s Office has launched their own investigation into former President Biden’s usage of the autopen,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced at Thursday’s press briefing, noting that the office has already requested relevant emails, communications, and other documents from the National Archives.
