🔵 Tariff War Escalates

Good evening. It’s Wednesday, March 26.

President Trump announced a new 25% tariff on foreign-made cars Wednesday — impacting roughly half of all vehicles sold in America — arguing it would boost domestic manufacturing.

Trump, 78, announced the move in the Oval Office, saying that “this is gonna lead to the construction of a lot of plants” to build cars domestically.

“We’ll effectively be charging a 25% tariff, but if you build your car in the United States, there is no tariff,” he said.

Private contact details of the most important security advisers to U.S. President Donald Trump can be found on the internet. DER SPIEGEL reporters were able to find mobile phone numbers, email addresses and even some passwords belonging to the top officials.

To do so, the reporters used commercial people search engines along with hacked customer data that has been published on the web. Those affected by the leaks include National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.

Most of these numbers and email addresses are apparently still in use, with some of them linked to profiles on social media platforms like Instagram and LinkedIn. They were used to create Dropbox accounts and profiles in apps that track running data. There are also WhatsApp profiles for the respective phone numbers and even Signal accounts in some cases.

A significant force of B-2 Spirit stealth bombers looks to be currently wending its way to the Indian Ocean island of Diego Garcia. Satellite imagery shows at least three C-17 cargo planes and 10 aerial refueling tankers forward-deployed in the last 48 hours to the highly strategic British territory, which has been used as a staging point for U.S. strikes in the Middle East on multiple occasions in the past.

The build-up comes amid a new surge in U.S. strikes targeting the Houthis and growing warnings to Iran from the Trump administration over support for the Yemeni militants and Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.

The crews of two B-2 bombers, callsigns Pitch 11 and Pitch 14, could be heard communicating with air traffic controllers in Australia earlier today in publicly available audio. The crew of Pitch 11 confirms the presence of a third bomber, as well. The trio of bombers appears to have refueled in flight over Australia while heading westward.

A federal judge denied President Donald Trump’s administration’s efforts to ban transgender people from joining the military, which was set to go into effect Friday.

The Department of Justice has since filed a notice of appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeal for the District of Columbia.

Washington, D.C.-based U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes, a Biden appointee, on Wednesday, denied the government’s motion to dissolve her order that prevents the military from denying transgender people the ability to enlist in the military.

A federal appeals court upheld the pause on President Donald Trump’s order to deport Venezuelans accused of being members of the crime gang Tren de Aragua under the Alien Enemies Act.

The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the 1798 law gave presidents “near-blanket authority” to detain and deport any noncitizen from a country at war with the U.S. However, the three-judge panel ruled the invasion had to come from a foreign government rather than a gang.

“The AEA authorizes the President to restrain and remove the nationals of a belligerent foreign power,” wrote Judge Karen Henderson, appointed by former President George H.W. Bush, in a concurrence to the unanimous order. “Such power tracks when invasion is considered in its military sense.”

People who report being gluten intolerant but do not have coeliac disease may be experiencing gut symptoms unrelated to gluten intake, new research suggests.

A study involving individuals with self-reported gluten sensitivity has found that they experienced gut symptoms such as bloating and abdominal pain regardless of whether or not they consumed gluten.

Assoc Prof Jessica Biesiekierski of the University of Melbourne, one of the study’s senior authors, said the findings were significant in light of popular blame on gluten as a trigger for various symptoms.
