🔵 Texas Dems Evacuated

Texas House Democrats were evacuated from their Illinois hotel on Wednesday due to a bomb threat.
In a statement, Texas House Democrats said they are safe and “undeterred.” A group of Democratic state lawmakers has been staying in Illinois after leaving Texas to deny their Republican counterparts a quorum to vote on a new congressional map that would favor the GOP even more than the current map does.
Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL) said he was aware of the threats made. In statements, Texas state Reps. Ann Johnson and John Bucy pointed to Texas Republican leaders’ rhetoric for the threat.

Five soldiers have been shot during an active shooter incident at Georgia’s Fort Stewart.
Authorities announced on Facebook that Fort Stewart Commander Colonel William “Gabe” Weaver had issued a lockdown for the base and the Wright and Evans Army Airfield. While part of the lockdown has been lifted, it remains in place for the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area.
Army officials say there is no active threat to the community at this time.

Two teenagers were arrested in connection to the attempted carjacking of a former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer known as “Big Balls.”
Authorities said the 15-year-old suspects, who were charged with unarmed carjacking, were among several teens who allegedly approached the victim, Edward Coristine, and a woman police identified as his significant other near a car around 3 a.m. EDT Sunday in Washington’s Logan Circle neighborhood.
The group allegedly made comments about taking the car, before Coristine pushed his significant other into the vehicle for safety and prepared to confront the group, according to police.

The New York Times published never-before-seen photos from inside Jeffrey Epstein’s erie seven-story Upper East Side townhouse on Tuesday, revealing surveillance cameras placed in bedrooms and a first edition of “Lolita” prominently displayed throughout the New York City mansion.
Among the bizarre scenes is a macabre sculpture of a woman in a bridal gown dangling from a rope greeting visitors in the entryway, alongside dozens of framed fake eyeballs in a display that raises serious questions about what really went on behind closed doors.
A copy of “Lolita,” the 1955 novel where a deviant repeatedly rapes a 12-year-old girl with whom he has become obsessed, was also spotted in an office.

In what’s being praised as another “Make America Healthy Again” win, a growing number of states have been approved to limit food stamp purchases to healthier options, cutting out sugary drinks and candy.
Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins on Monday authorized waivers from another six states asking to limit purchases with food stamps — known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The latest states to join the MAHA trend are West Virginia, Florida, Colorado, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.
In total, 12 states are now approved to limit food stamps since President Donald Trump took office in January and tapped Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — the figurehead of the MAHA movement — to lead the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) announced Wednesday that she would run for governor of Tennessee in 2026.
Blackburn, a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump, is widely considered the favorite in the Republican primary. Her announcement video ties herself to Trump’s agenda.
“In his first six months, President Trump has made historic strides in Making America Great Again, but as he sends power back to the states, he’s going to need strong conservative governors who can bring that revolution home,” Blackburn said in a statement announcing her run.

President Trump plans to levy a stepwise series of pharmaceutical tariffs that could reach 150% within a year and a half, then rise to 250%, he said in a wide-ranging interview on CNBC Tuesday.
It’s the highest tariff rate the president has threatened the industry with to date while he also presses major manufacturers to commit to a “most-favored nation” pricing policy.
Trump previously threatened tariffs of up to 200%.
