🔵 Texas Mass Shooting

Three people were killed Monday in a shooting at a North Austin Target before the suspect fled in several stolen vehicles and was eventually arrested in South Austin, police said.
The shooting happened at the Target located at 8601 Research Boulevard, between Ohlen Road and Fairfield Drive. Austin-Travis County EMS initially reported four patients, but police later clarified that three people were shot and all died from their injuries. A fourth victim was treated for an unrelated matter.
The motive remains unclear at this time, according to APD.

President Donald Trump nominated Heritage Foundation economist E.J. Antoni to lead the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
His nomination comes shortly after Trump fired former BLS Commissioner Erika McEntarfer, a Biden appointee who published an unfavorable job report. He included an implicit slight against McEntarfer in his announcement on Truth Social.
“I am pleased to announce that I am nominating Highly Respected Economist, Dr. E.J. Antoni, as the next Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Our Economy is booming, and E.J. will ensure that the Numbers released are HONEST and ACCURATE,” the president said. “I know E.J. Antoni will do an incredible job in this new role. Congratulations E.J.!”

An illegal alien MS-13 gang member, convicted of raping and murdering 37-year-old Rachel Morin — a mother of five children — in April, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Monday.
Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez, an illegal alien from El Salvador where he is also a member of the violent MS-13 gang, was convicted months ago by a Maryland jury of first-degree murder, first-degree rape, third-degree sexual offense, and kidnapping.
On Monday, a Maryland judge sentenced Martinez-Hernandez to life in prison without the possibility of parole, a second life sentence, and another 40 years in prison for raping and bludgeoning Rachel to death in what has become known as the most horrific crime in Harford County, Maryland, history.

Explosions at the U.S. Steel facility in Clairton on Monday killed two people and injured 10 others, officials said.
Pennsylvania search and rescue crews were sent to Clairton after large explosions around 11am that sent a plume of black smoke into the air at Clairton Coke Works.
Allegheny County EMS Chief Matthew Brown confirmed at a Monday evening briefing that the death toll had risen to two after crews found the body of a worker who was previously unaccounted for in the blasts.

President Donald Trump on Monday delayed high U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods from snapping back into place for another 90 days, a White House official told CNBC.
Those tariffs were set to resume Tuesday. But Trump signed an executive order hours beforehand that extends the deadline until mid-November, according to the official.
The delay was the expected outcome from the latest round of talks between U.S. trade negotiators and their Chinese counterparts, which took place in Stockholm in late July.

Former Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund on Monday blasted former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for criticizing President Donald Trump’s activation of the Washington, D.C. National Guard over crime in the district, claiming he delayed deploying the guard in the January 6 riot.
Pelosi, who is still a lawmaker in the House but no longer speaker due to a Republican majority, claimed Trump “delayed” activating the guard when the Capitol complex was overrun by his supporters in 2021.
“Donald Trump delayed deploying the National Guard on January 6th when our Capitol was under violent attack and lives were at stake,” Pelosi posted to X. “Now, he’s activating the DC Guard to distract from his incompetent mishandling of tariffs, health care, education and immigration — just to name a few blunders.”
