The House is at a standstill as House Republican leadership works to sway holdouts on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, leaving a vote series open for over two hours.
The vote on an amendment to the procedural rule sits at 215-212 as of 4:30 p.m., ready to gavel down, but House leadership is keeping the vote open as Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) deliberates with several fiscal hawk holdouts who are upset with the Senateâs changes to the reconciliation bill.
House Republican rank-and-file members were instructed to return to their offices for âabout a hour,â around 3:15 p.m. At that time, Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Andrew Clyde (R-GA), Neal Dunn (R-FL), Andy Harris (R-MD), Dan Meuser (R-PA), Andy Ogles (R-TN), Scott Perry (R-PA), and Chip Roy (R-TX) had not cast a vote on the amendment.

Federal officials are warning of lone wolves who pose the biggest terror threat to Fourth of July celebrations amid tensions between the United States and the Middle East.
Tensions escalated on June 22, when the U.S. Military bombed three key nuclear sites in Iran, according to Trump administration officials.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said the agency is âworking closely with the FBI and other federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to ensure a safe and secure Independence Day across the nation.â

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he has struck a trade deal with Vietnam.
âIt will be a Great Deal of Cooperation between our two Countries. The Terms are that Vietnam will pay the United States a 20% Tariff on any and all goods sent into our Territory, and a 40% Tariff on any Transshipping,â Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
âIn return, Vietnam will do something that they have never done before, give the United States of America TOTAL ACCESS to their Markets for Trade. In other words, they will âOPEN THEIR MARKET TO THE UNITED STATES,â meaning that, we will be able to sell our product into Vietnam at ZERO Tariff,â Trump added.

Sean âDiddyâ Combs has been denied bail and will remain behind bars while awaiting sentencing in his federal trial, where he was found guilty on two counts of transportation for prostitution but dodged the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. The judge set a sentencing date for October 3 at 10 a.m. ET.
After the jury revealed the verdict early Wednesday morning, Combsâ attorney Marc Agnifilo told the judge that he âshould be released on appropriate conditionsâ as early as today. The prosecution countered the request, stating that it posed a âreal riskâ to let him walk free.
At 5 p.m. on Wednesday, the parties reconvened in the federal courtroom, where Judge Aran Subramanian announced his ruling. He said it would be âimpossibleâ for Combs to prove he would not pose a danger to others if released on bail. Using the defense attorneysâ own words against them, the judge provided examples from the trial in which they admitted to Combsâ pattern of violence. âYou full-throatedly in your closing argument told the jury that there was violence here,â Subramanian said to Agnifilo, quoting his summation on Friday: ââWe own the domestic violence. We own it.ââ

The family of the Colorado terror suspect who injured 8 Israeli hostage supporters with homemade firebombs last month can be deported, a federal judge ruled on Wednesday.

Solimanâs wife and five children had sued to prevent expedited removal proceedings, but the judge ruled he âlacks jurisdiction to grant Petitioners the relief they seek.â
