Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) filed an article of impeachment against President Trump on Tuesday, accusing the president of failing to notify or seek authorization from Congress before the U.S. launched strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend.

The resolution alleges “abuse of presidential powers by disregarding the separation of powers—devolving American democracy into authoritarianism by unconstitutionally usurping Congress’s power to declare war.”

“President Trump’s unilateral, unprovoked use of force without congressional authorization or notice constitutes an abuse of power when there was no imminent threat to the United States, which facilitates the devolution of American democracy into authoritarianism,” Green’s resolution reads.

 
 

Thousands of New Yorkers are set to head to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots in the hotly-contested mayoral primary election — but it’ll be another week before voters learn who will be the Democratic nominee.

Polls citywide are set to open at 6 a.m., with the temperatures reaching a sweltering 102 degrees before voting ends at 9 p.m. in what is shaping up to be the hottest day of a heat wave.

A staggering 400,000 New Yorkers already cast their ballots during the early voting period of June 14-22.

Allegations Iran launched a barrage of missiles at Israel early Tuesday morning more than two hours after the ceasefire began, which Tehran denied even as Israel announced a response, has drawn criticism of both parties by President Donald Trump.

Sirens sounded in northern Israel and explosions could be heard as Israeli air defenses responded and commanders said the country “will respond with force.”

“Two missiles were launched from Iran and they were intercepted,” a military official told AFP on condition of anonymity, with the army saying people could leave shelters around 15 minutes after the first alert.

Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) revealed on Monday that U.S. intelligence contradicts claims that Iran moved nuclear materials before President Trump’s weekend airstrikes, which the senator believes “severely damaged, if not completely destroyed” Iran’s nuclear weapons capabilities.

Satellite imagery taken prior to the attack, circulating across social media over the weekend, revealed trucks surrounding Fordo allegedly poised to haul away all nuclear material, which the senator rejects.

“[Israel and Iran] are claiming that they moved some material,” Mullin said. “Our intelligence report says they didn’t. In fact, we actually believe they stored more of it in Fordo because they believe Fordo was impenetrable,” the Oklahoma Republican said in an interview on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”

The Trump administration said Tuesday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents had arrested 11 Iranian citizens over the weekend who were in the U.S. illegally.

Among those arrested was a man ordered for removal from the United States 20 years ago, and others accused of breaking immigration laws.

Federal agents also arrested a U.S. citizen for allegedly threatening to kill ICE agents, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said.

A federal judge blocked deportations for eight migrants Monday night in what the Trump administration called a “lawless act of defiance” of the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration earlier on Monday to move forward with quickly deporting illegal migrants to countries not specified in their removal orders. The ruling pausing an injunction issued by Judge Brian Murphy, a Biden appointee, which required the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to give migrants notice and allow them to raise concerns about potential threats of torture before deporting them to a “third country.”

However, Murphy issued an order Monday night blocking immediate removal of eight migrants currently held at a U.S. naval base in Djibouti to South Sudan.

At first glance, the tiny object – barely the size of a human fingernail – looks like a toy. Made to resemble a mosquito, it has two yellow, leaf-like wings, a black vertical body and three hair-thin legs.

The apparatus in question, developed by scientists at a university in China’s central Hunan province, is far from a plaything, however: it’s a new drone with a wide range of military and civilian uses.

In a video published by China’s state media over the weekend, one of the scientists is seen holding up a model of the “mosquito-like type of robot”, which he says is “suited to information reconnaissance and special missions on the battlefield”.
