Dozens of FBI agents who worked to investigate the Jan.6, 2021, US Capitol attack and the now-dismissed classified documents case against President Donald Trump could lose their jobs as early as Friday, according to a CNN report.
That report coincides with other reporting of a “purge” underway to cull the heads of FBI field offices across the country.
CNN reported Friday that some of those expected to lose their jobs or be reassigned were told via email they were being dismissed due to their role in “prosecuting the President”.
CBS owner Paramount is in settlement talks with representatives of President Donald Trump over a lawsuit launched by Trump over what he has said is a deceptive edit during an interview with his former opponent, Kamala Harris.
Paramount is seeking a merger with Skydance Media, an entertainment company that is owned by Larry Ellison and controlled by his son, David, according to the New York Times.
When Trump launched the lawsuit, it was dismissed by some as far-fetched, but now that Paramount is seeking to merge the media company, government permissions with the FCC may stand in its way.
Disturbing new videos give the clearest view yet of the moment the American Airlines passenger plane and Army helicopter exploded into pieces — sending huge chunks of fiery debris crashing into the frigid water below.
The cellphone footage, obtained by CNN, provides the clearest angle so far of Wednesday’s tragic midair collision in Washington, DC, that killed 67 people in the country’s deadliest aviation disaster in almost a quarter century.
The two clips captured the Black Hawk helicopter’s red tail lights flashing as it quickly flew directly toward the passenger jet approaching the runway at Ronald Reagan National Airport at about 9 p.m.
An air traffic controller was reportedly allowed to leave their post early just before American Airlines Flight 5342 collided in midair with a military helicopter over Washington DC.
Insiders and a preliminary internal FAA report have started to reveal catastrophic failures leading up to the aviation disaster that killed 67 people, including three soldiers, Wednesday night.
The collision took place as the American Airlines flight, carrying 60 passengers and four crew, made its final approach to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport shortly before 9pm ET.
Former “Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd is leaving NBC News after nearly 18 years at the network.
Todd said in a memo to NBC News colleagues that Friday was his last day.
He’ll continue doing his podcast and said he’s considering new projects, but offered no details.
Tomorrow, February 1, the Trump administration will slap 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico, and a 10% tariff on China, as announced during Friday’s press briefing by White House spox Karoline Leavitt, who denied reports of a delay to March 1.
There will be no delay, selective targeting, or slow roll-out of phased-in tariffs as speculated by Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank.
That said, there could be certain exemptions – such as for oil and gas, which Leavitt did not elaborate on. For now, all we have to go on is Trump’s most recent comments on oil:
Employees at multiple federal agencies were ordered to remove pronouns from their email signatures by Friday afternoon, according to internal memos obtained by ABC News that cited two executive orders signed by President Donald Trump on his first day in office seeking to curb diversity and equity programs in the federal government.
“Pronouns and any other information not permitted in the policy must be removed from CDC/ATSDR employee signatures by 5.p.m. ET on Friday,” according to one such message sent Friday morning from Jason Bonander, the CDC’s Chief Information Officer. “Staff are being asked to alter signature blocks by 5.p.m. ET today (Friday, January 31, 2025) to follow the revised policy.”
Federal employees with the Department of Transportation received a similar directive on Thursday, the same day the department was managing the fallout from the D.C. plane crash near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
Trump Media, the company behind President Donald Trump’s social media platform Truth Social, is expanding into financial services and financial technology (fintech) with the launch of a new brand called Truth.Fi that the company says will help protect American patriots from censorship, de-banking, and other threats from Big Tech and “woke corporations.”
Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), which is listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange as DJT, announced on Jan. 29 that its board of directors approved a strategy that aims to diversify the company’s offerings and strengthen its position in the fintech sector.
A central pillar of the strategy is the launch of Truth.Fi, a brand the company describes as rooted in America First principles. It aims to prioritize investments in U.S. growth, manufacturing, and energy sectors, along with ventures that bolster what it calls the “Patriot Economy.”
