Four children were among 47 people injured when a car ploughed “full-throttle” into a crowd of fans celebrating at Liverpool FC’s victory parade.
A 53-year-old white British man from Liverpool was arrested at the scene and is thought to have been the driver of the car, police said.
Some 27 injured people were rushed to four hospitals – two with serious injuries – and 20 were treated at the scene, with more patients self-presenting later on, the North West Ambulance Service said.

President Trump announced Monday that he will issue a former Virginia sheriff convicted of bribery a “full and unconditional pardon,” alleging that the lawman was a victim of “an overzealous Biden Department of Justice.”
Scott Jenkins, who had been the sheriff of Culpeper County, Va., was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison in March after being convicted on corruption charges related to a scheme that saw him appoint local businessmen as auxiliary deputy sheriffs in exchange for over $75,000 in bribes.
One of the men Jenkins appointed to a law enforcement post was a convicted felon.

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz said that his agency and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have identified at least $14 billion in fraud, waste, and abuse.
“There’s about $14 billion we’ve identified with DOGE, of folks who are duly enrolled wrongly in multiple states for Medicaid,” Oz told Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”
As an example, Oz said, “You live in New Jersey, but you move to Pennsylvania, and which state gets your Medicaid? Turns out both states collect money from the federal government.”

Police in Fairfax County, Virginia, released body-cam footage on Friday of a police-involved shooting in April that resulted in the death of a 36-year-old man.
The Fairfax County Police Department called the shooting an “attempted murder.” Footage showed a traffic stop in Fair Oaks from April 23 that quickly deteriorated into a firefight that involved Virginia resident Jamal Wali and three police officers.
The encounter began when a police officer pulled Wali over for speeding and having an expired inspection sticker. After the officer signaled for Wali to pull over, Wali slammed on the brakes. The officer, who was close behind, exclaimed “Jesus Christ!” as he braked to avoid hitting Wali’s car.

An artificial intelligence model created by the owner of ChatGPT has been caught disobeying human instructions and refusing to shut itself off, researchers claim.
The o3 model developed by OpenAI, described as the “smartest and most capable to date”, was observed tampering with computer code meant to ensure its automatic shutdown.
It did so despite an explicit instruction from researchers that said it should allow itself to be shut down, according to Palisade Research, an AI safety firm.

A Texas bill that would require all public school classrooms to display the Ten Commandments is one step closer to reaching Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R-TX) desk after it passed a vote on Sunday.
The Texas House passed Senate Bill 10 in a vote of 82-46, clarifying that any legal fees incurred by the display of the Ten Commandments would be the responsibility of the state.
Due to this amendment, the bill now heads back to the Senate, which previously passed the bill in a vote of 20-11.

A mysterious metallic sphere that was recovered after flying through the air in Colombia has left scientists baffled, with many speculating it’s a UFO.
The bizarre sphere was recorded flying over the town of Buga in the western part of the country in March before landing and being confiscated, according to X user Truthpolex.
The orb — which reportedly weighed about 4.5 pounds and was cold to the touch when found — had etched into it a series of ancient-looking symbols, including runes and characters from the Ogham and Mesopotamian writing systems.
