đ” US-China Meeting
Good evening. Itâs Saturday, May 10.

Sensitive talks between U.S. and Chinese delegations over tariffs that threaten to upend the global economy ended after a day of prolonged negotiations and will resume Sunday, a source briefed on the meetings confirmed to CBS News.
President Trump posted on his social media Saturday evening after the meetings concluded, saying âgreat progressâ was made.
âA very good meeting today with China, in Switzerland,â Mr. Trump said. âMany things discussed, much agreed to. A total reset negotiated in a friendly, but constructive, manner. We want to see, for the good of both China and the U.S., an opening up of China to American business.â

Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed holding direct talks with Ukraine on May 15 in Istanbul, Turkey, in what would be the first face-to-face meeting between the warring nations since peace talks began earlier this year.
âWe are determined to have serious negotiations ⊠to eliminate the root causes of the conflict,â Putin told reporters in a late-night statement.
In his remarks, the Russian president also left open the possibility of reaching a ânewâ ceasefire agreement with Ukraine.

Saudi Arabia will host a Gulf-US summit in mid-May, part of US President Donald Trumpâs first visit to Saudi Arabia during his second term. This follows the summit held on May 21, 2017, during Trumpâs first term.
The summit, hosted by Saudi Arabia in its capital, Riyadh, was preceded by numerous predictions regarding the announcement that Trump referred to, describing it as a âvery important announcementâ during a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney at the White House on Tuesday, May 6.
In addition to what Trump intends to announce, the summitâs agenda and the deals and agreements expected to take place have become the talk of the town, ranging from security and military deals to technology deals and artificial intelligence deals.

A spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security suggested on Saturday that three Democratic members of Congress might face assault charges after a confrontation outside an immigration detention facility in Newark during the arrest of the cityâs mayor, even as new details emerged that appeared to contradict the Trump administrationâs account of the surrounding events.
The three lawmakers â Representatives Bonnie Watson Coleman, Rob Menendez and LaMonica McIver of New Jersey â were inside the facility on Friday for what they described as a congressional oversight visit, which they have the right to conduct under federal law. The facility, Delaney Hall, received its first detainees last week and is eventually expected to hold as many as 1,000 migrants at a time.
Soon after the legislators left the building on Friday afternoon, Newarkâs mayor, Ras J. Baraka, was arrested by the head of Homeland Security Investigations in a brief but volatile clash that involved a team of masked federal agents wearing military fatigues and the three lawmakers. He was then taken to a separate federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in the city and released five hours later.

It was a dramatic day in a South Bay courtroom as a former teacher confessed to her crimes.
Jacqueline Ma was once named âteacher of the yearâ before it was discovered that she was committing sex crimes against two young boys.
âI am speaking today because I am guilty of my crimes and Iâm deeply ashamed of my actions,â Ma told the courtroom through tears. âI violated my original commitment to be the kind of teacher all parents hope their children will have.â

Five months after Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) effectively âBud Lightâdâ itself with a woke social media campaign, the British automaker is reportedly severing ties with its ad agency, according to British media.
But why nowâhalf a year later? The backlash over its controversial woke rebranding occurred last fall, yet the companyâs pronoun-wielding executive publicly defended the cringe ad at the time.
The Telegraph first reported that JLR was severing ties with its ad agency, Accenture Song, after the marketing disaster on November 19.
