🔵 USAID Shakeup

Good morning. It’s Monday, March 10.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that his agency had canceled 83% of the U.S. Agency for International Development‘s contracts following a multiple-week review.

USAID was one of the first agencies targeted by the Department of Government Efficiency and Elon Musk for cuts under the Trump administration, with all foreign aid out of the agency paused initially.

The Trump administration fired thousands of employees and contractors at USAID and put Rubio as the agency’s acting administrator during the reforms.

At least 32 casualties have been reported after an oil tanker containing a shipment of jet fuel collided with a cargo vessel off the coast of Yorkshire and burst in flames.

The incident occurred in the Humber Estuary near the town of Withernsea, east of Hull shortly before 10am this morning.

Footage from the scene shows clouds of black smoke billowing into the air after colliding at 9:48am.

Sam Altman, the CEO of ChatGPT developer OpenAI, is among the list of people set to host a fundraiser for Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), who has voted against most of President Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees.

Other people who will join Altman in hosting a lunch fundraiser for Warner on March 20 include, Chris Lehane, a Democrat political consultant, according to an invitation to the fundraiser viewed by Breitbart News. In August 2024, the New York Times reported that OpenAI had picked Lehane to serve as the vice president of global policy.

Josh Ackil — who co-founded the Franklin Square Group, and has “served in the Clinton White House as Special Assistant to the President,” and Matt Tanielian — who also co-founded the Franklin Square Group, and “served as Counsel” for former Sen. Robert Torricelli (D-NJ), will also host the fundraiser for Warner.

On Monday morning, workers in Washington, DC began dismantling the Black Lives Matter Plaza that lies in the heart of the city just outside of the White House.

Footage taken by News2Share’s Editor-in-Chief Ford Fisher showed workers removing posts that had been placed in the center of the road leading to the White House.

German Vigil, a spokesperson for the District Department of Transportation, told Fox 5 in a statement that deconstruction of the plaza will take place “over the next several weeks” and would require “temporary closures along 16th St NW in phases.”

A study published this week details the degree to which the Biden administration infused DEI policies into the federal government in a report the authors say can serve as a resource for the Trump administration to continue to identify and “destroy” the practice.

The new study, conducted by the Functional Government Initiative and the Center for Renewing America, identified 460 programs across 24 government agencies in the Biden administration that diverted resources to DEI initiatives.

At least $1 trillion of taxpayer money was infused with DEI principles, the study states.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said he would sign a bill that bans the use of fluoride in public water systems, rejecting the practice that many public-health experts say is a crucial protector against tooth decay.

The Republican governor said that half the state already doesn’t have fluoride added to the water and that dentists he had spoken to said there haven’t been dramatic differences between the different counties.

“It’s got to be a really high bar for me if we’re going to require people to be medicated by their government,” said Cox on ABC4 Utah.

The new animated Disney series “Win or Lose” is making headlines again, only this time it’s for featuring an openly Christian character.

The company has avoided Christian references for years, but that changed with the debut of the show “Win or Lose,” which is described as “[featuring] the intertwined stories of eight different characters as they each prepare for their big championship softball game — the insecure kids, their helicopter parents, even a lovesick umpire.”

This new animated series includes a character named Laurie who is feeling self-doubt, so she turns to God in prayer for help. There is also a cutout of an angel inside Laurie’s bedroom.

Users of the Elon Musk-owned social media app X, formerly Twitter, reported multiple outages Monday morning.
